Frequently Asked Questions (French Pattern Travertine)
A French Pattern (also known as the Versailles Pattern) is a modular interlocking design composed of four distinct sizes of natural stone tile or pavers: 16×24, 16×16, 8×16, and 8×8. This layout breaks up long grid lines, providing a highly elegant, rustic, and luxury aesthetic for pool decks, patios, and indoor flooring.
Because the pattern relies on a strict ratio of specific stone sizes working together, any perimeter cuts or radius corners around a pool can disrupt the sequence. Standard layouts require 10% waste, but for freeform pools or patio designs with tight curves, we strongly recommend a 15% to 20% waste margin to avoid running out of specific piece sizes.
Our premium travertine and marble French Pattern sets are bundled in standardized “bundles” or “sets” within each pallet. A single standard pallet typically covers 160 square feet. This packaging ensures that the exact required ratio of all four sizes arrives intact and ready for your installation crew at the job site.
